11 Baseball
11U baseball is for players born in 2015 and 2016. This team will compete in the WOBA south division. Typically we travel to neighbouring communities including (but not limited to) Mt Forest, Listowel, Walkerton, and Howick.
Players in this age group will face live pitching from their peers for the first time. Facing live pitches rather than a pitching machine presents new challenges to batters, as pitches will vary in speed and location.
Players interested in learning to pitch will be taught the fundamentals at practice. If you know your child wants to pitch, you may wish to consider enrolling them in our pre-season pitching clinic. Once pitchers are deemed capable by their coach, they will be given an opportunity to pitch in a regular season game. Some pitchers will develop more quickly than others, and will appear in more games than others.
Coaches are encouraged to utilize as many pitchers as they can, as pitch count rules limit the amount of pitches a player can throw in a game, meaning teams will need to develop pitching depth in order to be successful. Players are not permitted to pitch and play catcher in the same game.
Bases are placed 65' apart at this age level, and the pitching rubber is 44' from the back point of home plate.
The season wraps up with a playoff tournament in August.
