The home team is responsible for making the decision whether a game should be cancelled due to weather.
On occasion, the Recreation Department of Wellington North will ask us to stay off the field due to poor conditions.
When cancellation is necessary, be sure to notify the following parties ASAP
1. Opposing coach (contact information for all coaches will be provided by your convenor at the beginning of the season)
2. Umpire Coordinator for Arthur Minor Ball
3. Diamond Scheduler for Arthur Minor Ball
4. Your team
Try to schedule the makeup game as soon as possible so that everyone can plan accordingly.
Contact the Diamond Scheduler from Arthur Minor Ball to investigate diamond availability.
It is recommended that you offer 2 to 3 diamond times to the opposing coach.
Once you have settled on a date that works for both parties, confirm the booking with the Diamond Scheduler and notify the Umpire Coordinator so that arrangements can be made.
Lightning Delay Notes
Please be mindful of incoming storms. It is ok to start a game with storms in the forecast, but lightning must be carefully monitored. If lightning is observed, the field must be cleared until the threat has passed. The game cannot resume until 30 minutes after the last occurrence of thunder or lighting.
If the lightning delay is determined to prohibit play for the rest of the scheduled game time slot, the home team's coach and the umpire will be responsible for making the call to cancel the game.
